Ribfest Goes Green

Environmental concerns have been addressed and Chatham Rotary Sunrise’s  Ribfest wants to participate by launching a 100% Green program.

The Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise members’ & the lead ribber‘s goal is to make this Ribfest generate 100% recyclable and / or biodegradable wastes.

With the support of our vendors & service providers, any consumables they use must be biodegradable or recyclable. 

’Fun GREEN Facts’: The following products meet our requirements - all are Biodegradable!

• Fibre Based Food Containers (...for those great tasting Ribs!)
• Corn starch based Fibre Utensils
• Paper Napkins
• Corn Starch Based cups for those cold beverages
• Fibre Based Cups for hot beverages
• Corn starch based container for Take-Out!
• Available in recyclable containers: Bottled Water & Pop.
• Biodegradable garbage bags

The site will provide green (biodegradable) and blue (recyclable) containers for the public to use, as well as having several stations where people can take waste to be sorted.
